Meet Anntella Wells
Anntella is a Community Outreach Worker for the Denver Village-Stand UP for Me Initiative. Anntella is a dedicated and outstanding advocate for foster children and youth as well as adoptive, kinship, and foster parents. She has a fervent desire to transform the perception of adolescents from negative stereotypes to positive contributing members of society.
Over the past fifteen years, Anntella has volunteered and worked collaboratively with multiple organizations as a Community Coach, Youth Counselor, Group Leader, Outreach Worker, and Program Coordinator. She has earned a BS degree in Human Services from the University of Phoenix and is working on her Masters in Counseling. Anntella’s goal is to engage with at-risk youth from diverse backgrounds by providing them with the skills and tools to address transitioning from adolescence to adulthood.
Anntella is currently working on a special project called “Family Konnect” which empowers adolescents to identify and evaluate behaviors causing problems in their lives. By educating youth in a safe and caring environment, Anntella teaches how to work through issues by utilizing community resources.
It is unfortunate that youth who are involved in either the child welfare or juvenile justice system are perceived as incapable of showing and feeling love. These negative labels prevent many older youth to find an adoptive family. Anntella is dedicated to move beyond the images placed on out of home youth and wants every child to have a loving, caring, and safe home in Denver.
Anntella’s has an incredible personality and it is amazing to watch her work with such passion, commitment, joy, and professionalism. She is always ready to make the extra effort to complete a project and counsel the families and youth in her care.

Ron Allen, Community Outreach Worker, coordinates the Stand UP for Me Initiative in collaboration with the Northeast CCP Center at Lowry Family Center. In concert with the Crossroads Baptist Church of Thornton, a “GO Service” event was held to give back to the community. Church volunteers and CCP Center staff formed clean up teams in Henderson, Aurora, and Montbello.
The Denver Department of Human Services worked with Ron to identify three foster families who could benefit from a day of service. Indeed, we identified three families who needed a helping hand on household projects. These included: landscaping, grass mowing, tree trimming, painting, fixing, repairing, and weatherizing homes.
The foster families selected have been outstanding parents for over twenty years and have opened their hearts and homes to many underprivileged children. It was time to give back to the people who have done so much to make their house a home for youth in need.
This was a win-win situation. The volunteers were gratified to be of service and the families were extremely appreciative having more time to spend with their family on Saturday instead of the routine daily chores and home maintenance.
Special THANKS to Ron, Ryan, Trevor, Josh the handymen who made it happen!! Sometimes giving does not mean providing dollars but rather giving a few hours or days of your time to make a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors.
